Writer’s Block

Audiobook for “Writer’s Block” by Sheena Jeszelle Gooden

I took a walk in search of inspiration
And found myself lost
On the corner of Writer & Block

Lost and lonely,
I tried to find my way back to memorizing metaphors and slick similes
Did I go right, then left?
Or was it left, than right?
Retracing my steps…
And still, not even a rhythmic rhyme in sight.
Looking around not a single store front open to ask directions,
*Sigh*
If only I could find my way back to hyper hyperboles and alluring alliteration…

Maybe it was two lefts then a right…
OR right, left, then right again?
I’ve been walking in circles
With the click, click, click of my heels echoing in the distance

Tired, I finally stop.
I stopped and attempted to appreciate the silence of my mind…
It was then I realized how deafening the silence was
Then…
Inspiration found me.

I took a walk in search of inspiration
And found myself lost
On the corner of Writer & Block
I’m not sure how I got there,
but somehow I can be sure I’ll visit again.
